Hamza Yassin is a passionate, exciting and highly knowledgeable on-screen wildlife cameraman and photographer. His wonderfully warm and accessible presenting style is set to make him a huge star within the natural history television genre.
In 2022, Hamza was delighted and honoured to lift the glitterball trophy with his professional partner Jowita Przystal, having won BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing!
Hamza’s first appearance as a BBC presenter was on The One Show, as one of their new wildlife cameramen. This is where he was seen by DML, who immediately spotted his potential and signed him as a client.
Today, Hamza is best known as the TV presenter (in the role of Ranger Hamza) of the hugely popular CBeebies live-action show Let’s Go For A Walk. Hamza is cementing his role as a CBeebies presenter in his newest series, Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest, which is also set to be a great success. He has also featured as a guest presenter on BBC’s Countryfile, and has shared his vast knowledge and camera skills on ITV’s This Morning.
Hamza was also the presenter and cameraman for the one-off Channel 4 documentary Scotland: My Life in the Wild, which was about Hamza’s own life in the Scottish Highlands and the wildlife that lives there. In a four-part follow-up series called Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness, Hamza guided celebrity companions on journeys through western and eastern Scotland and the Highlands. He has also joined the team of experts as a wildlife presenter on BBC One’s Animal Park.
Hamza has assisted wildlife cameraman Jesse Wilkinson on BBC nature documentaries and several other projects. These include a film insert for BBC’s wildlife documentary Springwatch, filming a sparrowhawk sequence for Silverback’s The Hunt (narrated by Sir David Attenborough), and a film sequence about the British obsession with egg collecting!

In 2023, Hamza published his book, Be a Birder: The joy of birdwatching and how to get started, sharing his stories of birdwatching and teaching beginner birders his personal tips and tricks to get started in the hobby.
Hamza’s impressive qualifications are a Master’s Degree (MSc.) in Biological Imaging and Photography with Merit, in addition to his Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Zoology with Conservation.
Hamza has a passion for birds and is a skilled ornithologist and birds nest recorder, with excellent field craft and habitat knowledge. Hamza is also a published, famous wildlife photographer as well as a wildlife tour guide.
Hamza lives in a rural part of the west coast of Scotland, with wildlife and nature right on his doorstep as a constant inspiration for his work. In his spare time, Hamza competes in the Highland Games.
